The clubhouse at this compound is truly something. It’s a mammoth sized building that starts on the top of a hill and descends several floors belowground. Inside, there are premium, members-only clubhouse facilities and an underground parking facility. The clubhouse includes an indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, gym, sauna, children’s play area, meeting rooms, a breakfast dining room, etc. Aside from the parking garage, there are two main entrances to the clubhouse: the hilltop entrance, as well as a discreet, ground floor side entrance. Either way, proof of membership is required to use the facilities.
Excluding the clubhouse, the hilltop is lush and nature-filled. A small greenery, bordered by benches with leafy overhangs, is positioned on top. The paths running up and down the hill take residents through thickly-lined walkways, over a bridge, by a pond, etc. Most of the area surrounding the hill is taken up by residential high-rises, though there’s also an outdoor playground for children.
Each residence is owned by either an investment company or an individual landlord. In addition to world-class, onsite facilities, residents benefit from a wide assortment of services, including 24-hour guest services, housekeeping, dry cleaning, daily breakfast, and more.
Neighborhood
The immediate, surrounding area has a range of local shops and chains with all your daily necessities, as well as a major park (Huashan Park) and the famous Jiaotong University. However, its location at the hub of other key areas is what has made this compound so popular among residents.
The Shanghai Library metro station, which is just one station over, is home to several consulates, international cafes, the infamous ‘Avocado Lady’, an Italian deli, and more. Also one stop away is Xujiahui, which has several malls with a range of international shopping and dining options, in addition to Xujiahui Park and the historically important Xujiahui Catholic Church. Two stations away (or ~10 minutes by car) is Zhongshan Park and the Cloud Nine Shopping Mall, which carries a decent range of “affordable” brands as well as a Carrefour Supermarket.
Some residents have cars (the nearby Yan’an Elevated Road is particularly convenient), but central Shanghai is easily navigable by public transport as well. The nearest metro station to the compound is Jiaotong University station (Lines 10/11), which is about ~10-15 minutes away by foot. Xintiandi, for example, can be reached in ~25 minutes by car, bike, or metro. Jing’an can be reached in ~15 minutes by bike or car. Pudong Airport is about 1 hour away by car, and Hongqiao airport is about 40 minutes away by car.
